Unique New Scandinavian Café and Art Shop Opens!!!

The Vikings have landed! A new, unique art gallery and gift shop is available to you. Reminiscent of Stockholm’s Gamla Stan (“Old Town”), the gallery features unique oil paintings, watercolors and lithographs from across Europe. Jeanette Nasem Morgan, owner of Sweden Arts Shoppe came to America as a little girl crossing the Atlantic via ocean-liner with her parents. Look for the antique sepia picture of Jeanette’s voyage to America dressed in her Dalarna dress from Northern Sweden.

Dr. Morgan, formerly a professor of information systems management at Duquesne University, before that employed as division manager and technical director for Boeing and PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, in the Washington DC area, decided to open this gallery to celebrate the life of immigrants and the art they bring to the USA. Jeanette paints the handmade wooden “Habohus” horses in the old Swedish folk style. She also designs and creates artsy Viking Girl shirts, some with catchy Swedish phrases. Copper items are represented from her family’s copper factory in Jönköping, Sweden. Viking-style earrings, hand-wrought metal and stone bangles and Swarowski-jewel license plate purses from Little Earth are also found in her little shoppe just off Walnut Street in the heart of Shadyside.
